php5-mcrypt software package provides MCrypt module for php5, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install php5-mcrypt
php5-mcrypt is installed in your system.
Make ensure the php5-mcrypt package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep php5-mcrypt *
You will get with php5-mcrypt package name, version, architecture and description in a table
